Apple’s next big event is just around the corner, and this year the leaks have been unusually consistent. While Apple has not confirmed any specs, pricing, or colors yet, enough reporting has lined up from multiple credible sources that we have a pretty clear picture of what the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are shaping up to be. Here is everything worth knowing before the keynote.
When Is It Actually Launching?
Apple has confirmed its keynote for September 9, 2026. Based on the company’s usual pattern, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to go on sale around September 18, with preorders likely opening a few days earlier.
Here is the twist though. This year Apple is reportedly splitting its release schedule. Instead of launching the entire iPhone 18 lineup together, only the Pro and Pro Max are expected in September. The standard iPhone 18, the iPhone 18e, and the iPhone Air 2 are rumored to be pushed to spring 2027, keeping the September spotlight entirely on the Pro models.
What To Expect Spec Wise
Based on the leaks circulating right now, here is the rumored spec sheet for the iPhone 18 Pro Max:
- Chip: A20 Pro, built on a new 2nm process, expected to bring a solid jump in efficiency and performance
- RAM: 12GB, up from previous generations
- Modem: Apple’s own C2 modem, continuing Apple’s push to build more of its own silicon in house
- Connectivity chip: Apple N2 chip
- Display: LTPO+ panel with a smaller Dynamic Island
- Front camera: 18MP
- Rear camera: 48MP wide camera, this time with a variable aperture lens
- Zoom: Up to 6x optical zoom
- Battery: Rumored around 5,567 mAh, a meaningful bump for anyone who lives on their phone all day
- Connectivity extra: 5G satellite internet support
- Storage options: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB
Design wise, do not expect a dramatic overhaul. Multiple leakers agree the iPhone 18 Pro Max will keep a familiar look this generation, similar to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with the bigger story happening under the hood rather than on the outside.
The Price Question Everyone Is Worried About
This is the part that has people nervous, and honestly, for good reason. Rising memory and component costs have pushed analysts to predict a real price increase this year, something Apple has mostly avoided in recent generations.
The current rumored pricing looks like this:
- iPhone 18 Pro: $1,249 to $1,299
- iPhone 18 Pro Max: $1,349 to $1,399
That would mark roughly a $200 jump compared to last year’s starting prices. The main reason behind this is memory. Analysts have pointed out that memory now makes up a much larger share of the phone’s total build cost than it used to, partly due to a broader global memory supply shortage. Some reports suggest Apple may choose to absorb part of the cost itself to avoid scaring off buyers, but as of now, a price increase looks like the most likely outcome.
A Color Shakeup Is Coming Too
Here is a smaller but genuinely interesting rumor. Silver may be on its way out for the iPhone 18 Pro line, replaced by a black color option instead. If accurate, the expected lineup would be:
- Black
- Sky Blue
- Dark Cherry
- (Silver dropped)
Dark Cherry in particular is rumored to replace last year’s Cosmic Orange, giving the lineup a slightly more premium, jewel toned feel this time around.
So, Is Any of This Confirmed?
Not officially, no. Apple has not confirmed a single spec, price, or color for the iPhone 18 Pro line yet. Everything above comes from supply chain reports, respected analysts, and leakers with a solid track record, not from Apple itself. That said, the sheer number of independent sources landing on similar numbers, especially around the chip, RAM, and pricing, makes this one of the more reliable rumor cycles we have seen heading into a launch.
We will know for sure very soon. Apple’s keynote lands on September 9, just days away, and we will be updating this post the moment anything becomes official.
